Privacy Policy

Aura Smart Film (“Aura,” “we,” “us” or “our”) supplies and installs switchable privacy film on existing glass for homes and businesses in the Los Angeles, California area. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and when you request an estimate, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have, including the rights of California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the “CCPA”) and the California Online Privacy Protection Act (“CalOPPA”).

This policy applies to the website at the address where it is published (the “Site”) and to the estimate and contact forms on it. It does not apply to information we collect offline under a written service agreement, which is governed by that agreement, except where this policy says otherwise.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

When you request an estimate or contact us through the Site, we collect the information you choose to provide, which may include:

• Contact details: your name, phone number and email address.
• Location: your city or ZIP code, and later the address of the property if you move forward with an evaluation.
• Project information: property type, where you want privacy, approximate glass measurements and any details you write in the form.
• Photos: images of your glass or space that you upload. See Section 4.
• Communications: the content of calls, texts and emails you exchange with us about your project.

Name, phone number, city or ZIP code and property type are required to submit an estimate request. Everything else is optional.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting and content-delivery provider automatically records limited technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you view, the referring page and the date and time of your visit. This information is kept in standard server logs for security and troubleshooting. The Site does not currently use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics. See Section 6.

Information from third parties

We do not buy personal information from data brokers. If you reach us through a third-party platform (for example, a business listing, a review site or social media), that platform may share your public profile name and message with us under its own privacy policy.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

• Respond to your estimate request, evaluate whether your glass is suitable for smart film, and prepare a project-specific estimate.
• Schedule and perform measurements, installation and follow-up service, and communicate with you about your project.
• Send you information you have asked for and, with your consent where required, occasional updates about our services. You can opt out at any time.
• Operate, secure and improve the Site, including preventing spam and abuse of our forms.
• Keep business records, process payments under a written agreement, and comply with legal, tax, licensing and insurance obligations.
• Establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We do not use personal information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not use it to build profiles for advertising.

3. How we share information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined by the CCPA. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months. We share personal information only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers that process information on our behalf and under contract, including our web hosting and content-delivery provider, the form-processing and email-delivery service that transmits your submission to us, and business tools such as scheduling, invoicing and customer-record software.
• Font delivery: the Site loads its typeface from Google Fonts. When the page loads, your browser requests the font file from Google’s servers, which means Google receives your IP address and standard request data. Google’s handling of that data is described in its own privacy policy.
• Installation partners and suppliers when needed to complete your project, such as the smart film manufacturer for a warranty registration or a licensed electrician for control wiring, limited to what the task requires.
• Professional advisers such as accountants, insurers and attorneys, under confidentiality obligations.
• Legal requirements: to comply with law, subpoenas or lawful requests from public authorities; to enforce our terms; or to protect the rights, property or safety of Aura, our customers or others.
• Business transfers: if Aura is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

4. Photos and project details

Photos you upload help us assess your glass before a site visit. We use them only to evaluate, quote and perform your project, and we store them with your project file. We will not publish your photos, use them in marketing, or show them to other customers without your separate written permission.

Please upload only photos you have the right to share, and avoid including people, license plates, documents or other personal details that are not needed to show the glass. If you upload a photo that includes another person, you are responsible for having their permission.

5. Calls, texts and emails

When you provide a phone number and submit an estimate request, you agree that Aura may call or text you at that number about your request, including with an automated scheduling or reminder message. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services. Message and data rates may apply. You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP, and you can ask us to stop calling by telling us during a call, by email, or by using the contact details in Section 14. We do not send marketing text messages without your separate express consent, and we do not share your phone number with third parties for their own marketing.

Emails from us about your project are transactional. If we ever send promotional email, each message will include an unsubscribe link.

6. Cookies, analytics and Do Not Track

The Site currently sets no advertising or analytics cookies and does not use tracking pixels, session-replay tools or social-media plug-ins. Our hosting provider may set strictly necessary cookies for security and load balancing. Your browser may store a small amount of data locally so that pages work correctly; this data never leaves your device.

If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy before doing so and, where required, give you a way to opt out.

Do Not Track. Because the Site does not track visitors across third-party websites or over time, it does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals. The Site treats browser-based opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; since we do not sell or share personal information, no further action is needed on your part.

7. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, and then delete or de-identify it, unless a longer period is required by law. As a guide:

• Estimate requests that do not become projects: up to 24 months from your last contact with us, so that we can respond if you decide to proceed later.
• Customer project records (including photos, measurements, contracts and invoices): for the duration of the project plus the period required for warranty, tax, licensing and legal purposes, which in California is generally at least four years and, for records relating to construction work, up to ten years.
• Server logs: typically 30 to 90 days, as set by our hosting provider.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections to the Site, access controls on our business systems and limiting access to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach affecting your unencrypted personal information, we will notify you as required by California Civil Code § 1798.82.

9. Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for adults who own, rent or manage property. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 years of age, and we do not sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. California privacy rights

This section supplements the rest of this policy and applies to California residents. To the extent the CCPA applies to Aura, you have the rights described below. Even where the law does not strictly require it, we honor these requests as a matter of policy.

Notice at collection: categories of personal information

In the preceding 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information, as defined by the CCPA, for the purposes described in Section 2. We collect each category directly from you or, for internet activity, automatically through the Site.

We do not collect the following categories: protected classifications, biometric information, precise geolocation, professional or employment information, education information, or inferences used to build a profile. We keep each category for the periods described in Section 7.

Your rights

• Right to know: to request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, our purposes, and the categories of third parties to whom we have disclosed it.
• Right to delete: to request that we delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions (for example, records we must keep to complete a contract, for warranty purposes, or to comply with a legal obligation).
• Right to correct: to request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
• Right to opt out of sale or sharing: we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. If that ever changes, we will add a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link to the Site first.
• Right to limit use of sensitive personal information: we use any sensitive information only for the limited purposes permitted by law, so this right does not currently require action.
• Right to non-discrimination: we will not deny you services, charge you a different price or provide a different level of service because you exercised any of these rights.

How to exercise your rights

You can submit a request by emailing us at [privacy contact email] with the subject line “California privacy request,” or by using the contact form on the Site and stating that you are making a privacy request. We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days, which we may extend once by a further 45 days if reasonably necessary, in which case we will tell you.

Verification. To protect your information, we need to verify that a request comes from you. We will ask you to confirm details we already hold, such as the name, phone number and email address on your estimate request, and, for requests to access specific pieces of information or to delete, we may ask for additional confirmation. We use the information you provide only to verify the request.

Authorized agents. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We will ask the agent for written, signed permission from you, and we may also ask you to verify your identity directly with us, unless the agent holds a power of attorney under California Probate Code §§ 4121 to 4130.

“Shine the Light” (California Civil Code § 1798.83)

California residents may ask once per calendar year for information about how a business has shared personal information with third parties for those parties’ direct marketing purposes. Aura does not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing. If you would like to confirm this in writing, contact us using the details in Section 14.

Minors’ content removal (California Business and Professions Code § 22581)

The Site does not allow users to post public content. If a California resident under 18 has nonetheless submitted content that appears publicly on any Aura property, they may request removal by contacting us.

11. Residents of other states

Aura serves the Los Angeles area, and the Site is directed at California residents. If you contact us from a state with its own consumer privacy law, we will apply the same practices described above and honor requests to access, correct or delete your personal information where the law gives you those rights.

12. Third-party websites

The Site may link to third-party websites, such as a manufacturer’s specifications or a review platform. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of the page and, if the changes are material, we will post a notice on the Site’s homepage for at least 30 days or, where we have your email address and the change affects how we use information you have already given us, notify you by email. Your continued use of the Site after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
